Telling

THE DAY(S)

Ever have those moments when you’re reading what you’ve written and realized, heck, you’re telling rather than showing?

I can say that it’s much worse when that happens after several thousands of words and days.  OTOH, you could say that it’s better to have realized that now instead of later.

So that’s what happened.  I’ve been telling for the past three, four days, not showing.  That came clear to me this afternoon when I saw what needed to be done to make this work.  (This is why writing into the dark is hard for me; I feel like this is so much wasted time and effort.)

Well, whatever.  At least I caught it now, even if it means a major bloodletting tomorrow.  Might have to get out the mop.

What I’m Watching:
The Internet went down where I work out, so it’s been kinda frustrating.  Finally downloaded a couple movies: The H8Ful Eight and Bridge of Spies.  The former was a snooze, and I finally quit about halfway.  It could’ve used a major editing job, too.  I really couldn’t care less about any of those characters.  BoS was predictable Spielberg, like eating a nice bowl of macaroni and cheese, but kind of nice to watch, too, because it was never boring.

What I’m Reading:
Heart-Shaped Box.  Read it before; IMHO, the only worthwhile Hill book out there.

What I’m Listening to:
Something.  Eventually.
