    1. Hi again,
Sorry to be a both, but do you know where Monsters is available from? I’m in New Zealand and want to read it as soon as I can but I can’t find Ashes in bookstores here and online just the eBook is $10 at Barnes and Noble? Alternatively I could order from Amazon but who knows how long that can take and I’m not very patient when it comes to books I love!!!
      Thanks for your time!

    2. What? No way! I’m so sorry to hear that! I was sure that Quercus Kids distributes to NZ . I’ve just shot off an email to them.

Well, being international, you do have the Book Depository; they send all over the place and are quite reliable/reasonable. Here’s their link for MONSTERS:
      http://www.bookdepository.com/search?searchTerm=monsters+bick&search=Find+book

You could also bug your bookstore, of course 😉

Enjoy! Thank you for your impatience 😉 Lets me know I’ve done my job.

    3. Hey, Albi… I just heard back from Quercus, which does distribute in NZ. All you have to do is ask your bookseller to order the book.

    4. LOL!! Well, I hope your friends know your names, so you can spread the love 😉

Thanks, guys (or gals). Appreciate it 😀

    5. Oh, how nice! The only event I’ve got coming up in the near future will be in Minneapolis roundabout Sept. 20th. Then I think there’ll be something in Milwaukee in November, something in Illinois mid-October . . . not doing a lot of traveling because, frankly, I’m in deadline hell for another book. I know that I will be at the RT in NOLA next year (May?). If I’ve got any travel coming up, I’ll certainly post here and on social media, okay?

In the meantime, I’m so glad you like my work. Thanks! 🙂

    6. I read way to much for my age because i really love books, and where they can take you. But when i read ashes it was the first time I immediately thought, about a chapter in, that this book had to be made into a film! its exciting and is great at capturing the readers full attetion so why cant it do the same to a cineama audience? It has the makings of a great film I think you should look into this and see where it takes you. if you try creating a film, I wish you luck and I think we will have another hunger games hit on our hands very soon!

    7. I’ve just finished monsters and I am quite upset to see it end there so abruptly! will you ever create another book to revisit the characters and tell us what happened to them?

    8. I’ve just finished reading Monsters and am quite shocked and disapointed to see it end there so abruptly! Will you ever create another book and revisit the charactes so we can see what happened to them in the end?

    9. Well, I’m not sure that it ends all that abruptly, but I know how you feel about these folks and I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the series so much that you wouldn’t mind another book. Me, neither! There’s certainly room for another book (or even a few), and I’ve been tossing around an idea for a fourth book. But other projects first 🙂
I hate leaving these guys, too. 😉

    10. Was wondering when Monsters will be released in an audio format? Will it be the same narrator? I love her.

    11. I don’t know the release date yet; in fact, I wrote Audible about that just the other day and am waiting to hear back. Audible can sometimes lag behind, but I would expect it will be sometime in the next month or two. As soon as I hear something, I’ll pass it along. And enjoy when you do listen: Katy Kellgren is fabulous.

    12. Hi! First off, I am an incredibly huge fan. Your Ashes trilogy is one of the most well-written, action packed trilogies of all time and I’m constantly recommending it to my students. I was at the National Book Festival today and it got me thinking; I was just wondering if you are going to go on tour/ book signings in the US in the near future? Specifically in the eastern US? Thanks!

    13. Hey, I’m so glad you like the trilogy! [And thanks: I need all the recommendations I can get. 😉 ] As for tours and signings . . . no, not on the East Coast at this point. If I do, though, I’ll certainly post that.
Thanks for writing in, too; I truly appreciate it. A writer never knows if she does anything right if someone doesn’t tell her 😉

    14. First, I just wanted to thank you for the amazing series that is the Ashes trilogy! I loved it from the first sentence in Ashes, until the last in Monsters. I think you did an amazing job wrapping up the trilogy, but 3 books and I’ll never know why there was an EMP, why some people dropped dead the first day, why some Changed, why some were Spared, why some were Awakened or why some developed super senses. And I know that may not be the most pressing matter in the series, but it did rip my heart out, hahaha.

    15. Well, you are welcome. I am so pleased you liked the series.

And, as Tom says, not everything can be wrapped up with a bow 😉

    16. Hi Ilsa! I read ashes and shadows a while ago and I fell in love with them. I especially love Tom. Anyway, I went to the library a couple of days ago and I picked up your book “the sin-eaters confession”–which is amazing by the way, I’m in the middle of it now. Anyway, I looked up from the book and on the shelf I saw “monsters”. You wouldn’t believe how excited I got lol. I squealed and it was a little embarrassing but I was so excited. I didn’t think it would be out so soon! Anyway I’ve only gotten to page 4 but I already love it and I am so so excited. I write stories too and you are one of my inspirations. Thanks so much for your amazing talent!

    17. Hey, Allison . . . well, SQUEEEE! 😉 That’s so cool! I hope you like the *rest* of the book, too, and I’m glad you’ve also discovered SIN. Pretty proud of that book, too 🙂

    18. Hey! i just have a question about draw the dark!
what would be the main theme of the book? what does Christians drawings have to do with the deaths?
      Thank you!

    19. *gross sobbing in the distance*

Okay, I gotta say, you rank as one of my favorite writers of ALL TIME. Your writing style is just so fantastic, you’re my inspiration for taking up writing again 🙂 I don’t think I’ve ever stayed up this late to finish a book.

I just read Monsters – AMAZING – and that ending is chewing me up inside. Any possibility us readers will get any definite closure? God, I have so many questions. About the EMP and the Changed and the Spared and the Awakened and Penny and gaahhh. How am I supposed to know where and who Alex ends up with?

      C’mon, I’m dying for answers.

    20. I loved your books thank you for helping me through some tough times. I just read Monsters And OF COURSE the ending is sad to me. I don’t UNDERSTAND how Wolf coming back can be for Alex an Tom (and only for them) ? I know you might not help with this question but if you would please do.

    21. Hi Ilsa. I have listened to the audio books of both Ashes and Shadows and am eagerly awaiting the audio release of Monsters. I am wondering if you have a date when the audio will be out? I’ve been checking the provider’s websites weekly since September when the print copies came out but they only say that the title hasn’t been released yet (even though the release date is listed as September 10, 2013.)

    22. Hey, Angy: Yeah, they’re great listens, aren’t they? Katy is just sooo talented. I actually heard from Audible just yesterday. Expect the book to be available on Dec. 17 (just in time for that present you’ve wanted to give yourself) 😉

    23. Hi Ilsa,
I just wanted to say how amazing your Ashes series was. I’ve only just finished reading Monsters and I was left absolutely breathless!

    24. (Sorry, I accidentally clicked “post” before i could finish my comment! haha)
By the end of the book, in the last chapter, I was crying when Ellie and Chris scattered the ashes of their loved ones. However, I’m not sure what I was crying over most; the loss of some beloved characters, or the fact that the book was coming to an end.
And that ending! Oh my gosh! I was dying to know whether Simon picked up that chocolate bar or not! It was killing me not knowing! 😛

I was wondering if you were considering writing a spin-off series for the Ashes trilogy. I know I mustn’t be your only fan who is desperate for more of Alex and her friends. I am extremely curious as to whether Simon really does change and get better. But most of all… I miss it! I loved this series so much that my days basically evolved around reading it! haha
I’m sure you would have a lot of happy Ashes fans if you considered this 🙂

    25. Hey Lisa,
I just finished Ashes, and as an AP Lit student, I have to ask, was it influenced in any way by Heart of Darkness, what with sense of smell being a main theme, and Alex’s becoming accustomed to her surroundings in Rule? Or do you not know what I’m talking about, because I’m not sure how many people outside of AP Lit know about the theme of dead hippo in H.O.D.?

    26. Hey, Tyler:
First off, sounds like you enjoyed the book, so that’s good 😉
Second–yeah–I know what you’re talking about, but, no, I wasn’t thinking of HOD in terms of ASHES. I really intended to focus primarily on smell and memory. Interesting idea, though! 🙂

    27. Hey Ilsa! Just wanted to say that I just bought Monsters and I’m reading White Space and they’re both so awesome! You are definitely my favorite author and you write with such a creepy and epic intensity. I always get so pulled into your worlds and you write with such a captivating, eerie style. Your characters always stick with me–especially Tom and Alex from Ashes. You are an amazing inspiration to me and thank you so much for sharing your stories! I can’t wait for your next book!

    28. Hi, my name is Aislynn. I am in the middle of reading Monsters right now! Anyway, in English class we are writing letters and I would like to write to you! is there an address I could send it to! (I need it for tomorrow.)
      Thank you!

    29. LOL! Didn’t you do just that: write me a letter? 😉 I’m not sure why an email contact wouldn’t count and I usually answer email much more quickly than snail mail. Seriously, this doesn’t count? I correspond with students like this all the time.

    30. Well, we are learning how to do a business letter and all that! I have been trying to write people, but no one has an address. do you have a P.O box or something?

    31. We are doing a little contest to see who can write the best letter and who will get a letter back! I thought you were perfect to write to because I love your books and as I am waiting for you to respond I am reading monsters! it is getting really good! so, if by tomorrow morning you could give me an address or P.O box, whatever, it would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

    32. Wow I can actually contact an author just to tell them how much I loved their series? Fantastic! I absolutely loved the Ashes trilogy and it will certainly stay with me for some time. The only thing I’m really disappointed with is the fact it ended, but alas, even good stories must end. 🙁 I’ll definitely be looking into some of your other work though.

    33. Yeah, isn’t the internet great? In my day, you had to hope that authors actually read their mail 😉 Anyway, thanks for writing in! I’m glad you enjoyed the series.

    34. The internet is quite fantastic I must say, and when I saw the back of the book all I could think of was contacting you. Well, whatever the case, have a lovely day!

    35. Hi I just finished reading Ashes and I’ve just got to say this-I’m hooked! I don’t know what drew me in first the cover or the interesting nibble I got from the back of the book (somehow I always need to read the last sentence of a book, it’s very fun that way) but it lead me on a heart racing journey all because of that. I could gush, you could gush, everybody on here could gush about the amazing story you’ve created here and that’s what I love to say with author’s. It gives the reviewer and auother joy from both sides when this interaction can happen! Simply I’m buying the rest of the series hopefully soon ’cause I’m itching to read more of your work. Just everything about this dystopian tale (is that the right thing to describe it) has awesome written all over it. Keep it up and keep being awesome, oh and do you ever sign books by any chance?

    36. Well, I’m glad you like the book. I hope you enjoy the rest of the trilogy. (If you don’t, don’t tell me. ;-)) In terms of signing books, I do. You may either send your books with sufficient packaging and return postage, or I could send you signed bookplates. Up to you; I’m good with either. 🙂

    37. I just finished The Sin Eaters Confession and would like to know if there will be a sequel to this book? This is one of my favorite books along with ashes. I think within the first few pages i found out this book was how my life has been. Please email me about the next Sin Eaters Confessions book

    38. Hey, Ben, I’m so glad you enjoyed that book. A lot of people ask me that question, and while I hadn’t really considered doing so, it just so happens that the book I’m outlining right now picks up in the same town several years later. So, I guess you could say that there will be a bit of a sequel. How much the first book ties into the second book, though, remains to be seen. As I said, I’m still in the outline stage and, as of right now, it’s a different story, but I do plan on some characters making a reappearance. Stay tuned. 🙂
