Wow, has it really been five days since I’ve visited? \u00a0What have I been doing?<\/p>\n
Writing and thinking and outlining and writing and . . .<\/p>\n
As books come together and plot threads become evident, things change. \u00a0They always do. \u00a0It’s really amazing to see how different this book is from what I’d envisioned or started days ago. \u00a0I’m not saying this is all easy or welcome. \u00a0Actually, today, a Facebook friend posted something right on:<\/p>\n
“You have to surrender to your mediocrity, and just write. Because it\u2019s hard, really hard, to write even a crappy book. But it\u2019s better to write a book that kind of sucks rather than no book at all, as you wait around to magically become Faulkner.\u201d<\/p>\n
Yesterday, I was beating myself upside down and sideways because I only managed to outline the next chapter. \u00a0But it WAS writing. (See how I’m still justifying it?)<\/p>\n
When this many days go by and I have only 6000 words to show for it all, I start to wonder just what I’m doing. \u00a0Then I think–stop, shut up, just write.<\/p>\n

\nWhat I’m Watching:
\nThe Last Ship\u00a0<\/em>is still quite entertaining, although I saw this last big shocker coming. \u00a0(It is the only way the next season can run, but I gotta say: the series only REALLY works when Chandler’s in charge. \u00a0(And I still miss Rachel Scott.) \u00a0Then saw an episode of\u00a0Stranger Things<\/em>, which is still only . . . it’s okay. \u00a0I’m still not RIVETED. \u00a0But it’s good clean fun. \u00a0Maybe I need my TV to be uncomplicated for a bit.<\/p>\n
\nWhat I’m Reading:
\nBoy, I’m kind of all over the place. \u00a0The Dead Zone\u00a0<\/em>was just deadly. \u00a0Firestarter\u00a0<\/em>is . . . okay. \u00a0I need something new to read and probably not something close to what I’m writing. \u00a0I keep saying mystery, so go find one!

\nAmazingly, the DNC, in fits and starts. \u00a0Not at the moment. \u00a0Really, there’s nothing they can say either that will sway me one way or the other. \u00a0I have to admit, though, that Corey Booker gave a great speech.<\/p>\n
